Artists are needed to create murals on the themes of Community, Vitality, Diversity, and Transformation for the Buford Highway Art Walk, a multi-artist project which will eventually span 2.6 miles across the city of Doraville.
The initial ground murals will be painted inside the Perimeter at the Pinetree Plaza parking lot on Buford Highway in Doraville. They will be connected end to end, and each mural will be 8 feet by 24 feet: 192 square feet total.
The paint is specialty paint, Surface Bond Asphalt & Concrete Coating from ArmorPoxy. There are fifty color tints available on the website, but the paint only comes in white, so you will have to mix your own paint. If the available colors are not sufficient, we are testing other tinting methods. It takes a week’s lead time to order the paint. All paint and paint materials will be purchased for you by the City of Doraville.
Payment for one mural is $1000.
To apply, please submit the following to firstname.lastname@example.org:
- Your design for the planned mural based on any or all of the themes: Community, Vitality, Diversity, and Transformation. Please make sure your design meets the correct scale format for the mural: 8 inches x 24 inches
- Your first and last name
- Email address
- Phone number
- A short bio including what city you currently reside in
- If you have completed murals in the past, please provide photos of the work. If you have never completed a mural, please let us know that; it will not automatically discount you from consideration.
All licenses, copyrights, and intellectual property rights will be retained by the artist. Photos of completed murals will be used in social media for both the City of Doraville and DArt. The artists will always be credited. Mural designs not chosen will not be used in any capacity by either the city or DArt, however, we will retain your artist’s information in a database so we can contact you for further art opportunities in the future. If you do not want to be part of the database, please let us know.
There is no deadline at this time; it is an ongoing project.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for being part of the Art Walk!
